ARtist Statement

Art has a long history of rejection, it was through a rejection/ a manifesto that a new art was born.  A new way of making.   Often this has been called Style as an artist it is our job to develop our own “style,” or so many think.   

I reject this notion.   Furthermore, I wish to proclaim that style is another aspect of Art that must be rejected.   Through a rejection of style an artist is not tyrannically pigeon holed into working in one way or producing a work that always is recognizable as “their style.”   Instead an artist can create artworks that are able to tackle every subject and every painting in a different way.  This allows each artwork or series of artworks to be free, revolutionary, changing, different, odd, difficult, simple, complicated, etc.   Not to be tied down to style is to be free to express oneself fully through Art.
